The old father (his statue). Laurent Kropf leaves this statue in its inaugural state, still covered with a sheet. We can make out a human form frozen in a heroic posture, marked by idealistic generosity. It's up to each of us to unveil this old father and give him a reality confronted with the crash of history. The problematic statue stands in contrast to the deceptive certainty of the monument. It is but a ghostly trace from an indefinable past, inscribed like a dynamic enigma in the effervescence of the present.
